Pitaya, also known as Dragon Fruit, is a super fruit indigenous to Central and South America that is now grown all over the world.
WAIT! DRAGON FRUIT IS THE SAME?
Yes! Pitaya was first discovered in Central America, centuries ago, and has traveled to all corners of the globe. Early missionaries brought Pitaya to Asia where it has since been renamed and is more commonly known as, Dragon Fruit.
SHOULDN’T DRAGON FRUIT BE WHITE ON THE INSIDE?
Some species of Pitaya / Dragon Fruit have white flesh, or pulp, on the inside. At Pitaya Plus, we only harvest the red flesh Pitaya, which is richer in nutrients, flavor, and, of course, color.
WHAT DOES IT TASTE LIKE?
Pitaya, or Dragon Fruit, has a faint, sweet taste much like an earthy watermelon. All of its seeds give it the consistency of a kiwi.
